Kathleen Hardy, Singer & Storyteller

Kathy HardyKathleen Hardy is our regular guest soloist and storyteller for all Minnesota Sinfonia Children’s Concerts and Music in the Schools concerts.  Hardy grew up in St. Paul and began taking voice lessons at the age of ten.  She appeared in her first operetta the next year.  At that time, she realized that singing and acting were going to a big part of her future.

Hardy attended Macalester College in St. Paul where she majored in  theater, Speech and secondary education.  While in college, she studied voice with Charlotte Straka.   Her graduate work at the University of Minnesota was in broadcasting and management, with a minor in theater.

Hardy has worked in management positions in both the public and private sectors, and also works as an actress, singer, storyteller, voice and commercial talent in the Twin Cities.  She has performed with the Minnesota Sinfonia, Minneapolis Musical Theatre, Illusion Theater, Theatre in the Round, Starting Gate, John Hassler Theatre, Gremlin Theater, Skylark Opera, The Phipps Center, and national tours with Troupe America. For several years, she has performed the one-woman show entitled “Lifting As We Climb:  African American Women Working For Change” at the Minnesota History Theater.  She is the former president of the Board of Directors of The Lyric Theater and a former board member of Theater in the Round.

Hardy lives with her husband Bob in Maplewood, MN and enjoys spending time with friends, reading, watching movies and traveling.
